Earth Hour

Earth Hour is here again, at 8.30 PM, 26 March 2011 lights go off to celebrate a global commitment to protect our planet. Earth Hour is a global event organized by WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature), asking households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights and other electrical appliances for one hour.  Earth Hour was first held in 2007, when 2.2 million residents of Sydney participated by turning off all non-essential lights. Following Sydney's lead, many other cities around the world adopted the event in the following years.
The main goal of Earth Hour is to create awareness on the climate change issues. Individual mere act on a mass scale could make tremendous changes to a better future. However, there’s not that much energy reductions can be achieved within that one hour in once a year. Just an hour is not going to sustain the benefit to the earth, we should do more than that.

We are the world
We are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day
So let's start giving
There's a choice we're making
We're saving our own lives
It's true we'll make a better day
Just you and me
