Rock Climbing

I’m impress with the below article written by Trevor Allred, the founder of Rockclimbing.com. This is very insightful and make me can’t wait to go for my first climb. I just picked up few paragraph from it and you may browse through www.rockclimbing.com if you keen for the completed article.
"So, you've seen the videos: Tom Cruise pulling off crazy unroped stuff on massive cathedrals of rock in MI2. Stallone showing off his bulk dangling on some razor-thin chunks of rock... You're stoked and want to give it a try... But...

Why the hell would you want to pick up climbing anyway? If it's to impress the chicks with those buffy pecs you'll be disapointed. There's lots of easier ways to work on those instead of groveling through gruesome bloody crack climbs. You'll occasionally rip up your hands and generally scab various body parts. Occasionally you'll scare the wits out of you. So why do people climb anyway? Not for the hardman image of pure force portrayed in the media.

Climbing is not all about strength anyway. Many a strong man has been humbled by the feminine graciousness and apparent ease of a woman moving over rock. Climbing is all about balance, knowing your body and being able to reposition it in space. It's about creativity, learning to adapt to what the rock has to offer. It's a whole-body exercise and though your upper body gets a fair share of grunt work, your legs and feet are your most important instrument for upward motion. It's about concentration and overcoming your fears for the void.

For me personally it's all about discovering the natural world around and within you. Climbing will bring you to lots of lovely places and will definitely give you a unique perspective on the world below you. You'll learn a couple of things about yourself and the people you climb with.

Climbing is both an individualistic and social sport: when you're on the rock you can only count on your skills to get to the top. If you do fall however, you'll have to trust your climbing partner with your life. Beyond question. No mistakes allowed. This often makes for very strong bonds and relationships."

Facts About our Skeleton

Your Skeletal system is all of the bones in the body and the tissues such as tendons, ligaments and cartilage that connect them.

Your teeth are also considered part of your skeletal system but they are not counted as bones. Your teeth are made of enamel and dentin. Enamel is the strongest substance in your body.
There are 27 bones and more than 30 muscles in each hand.

Below are some facts of skeleton:

-          All bones have jobs.  The skull bones protect the brain.
-          The neck has seven bones.  A giraffe has seven neck bones too, but its bones are very long.
-          There are more than 20 small bones in the backbone or spine.  Each bone has a hole in it for the spinal cord.
-          The hip bone or pelvis is six bones joined together. It is shaped like a bowl.
-          The thigh bone is called a femur.  It is the strongest, heaviest, and longest bone in the human body.
-          The leg bone is really two bones.  The fibula is on the side and the tibia is in the front.
-          There are more than 20 bones in each foot!  The foot bones grow faster than any other bones in the body.
-          Babies have more than adults! At birth, you have about 300 bones. As you grow older, small bones join together to make big ones. Adults end up with about 206 bones.

Don forget to do regular exercise to keep your bones stay as strong as possible. Walking, jogging, running and other physical activities are important in keeping your bones strong and healthy. Bones are crucial to support you yourself.

Life is Tough

Below the news from thestar.com.my on 30th May 2011:

PUTRAJAYA: The electricity tariff will go up by about 7% from June 1, in a bid to rein in the ballooning subsidy bill.

However, the increase will not affect 75% of domestic users who mainly consume less than 300 kWh per month.

The gas tariff for electricity and industrial sectors will rise by RM3/MMBtu every six months from June 1 to Dec 2015.After that the price will be based on market rates.

The announcement on Monday was made at a joint press conference by Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop and Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water Datuk Seri Peter Chin Fah Kui.

They said the 7.12% hike was due to the increase in natural gas price to the power sector.
“In spite of the increase, the Government and Petronas is still bearing gas subsidies estimated at RM25.64bil this year.

“The new price is still competitive compared to the market rate of alternative energy such as liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and Medium Fuel Oil, which has risen from from USD37.05 per barrel to USD93.98,” Nor Mohamed said, adding that the decision would not affect local industry competitiveness in the long term.

PRICES CLIMBING HIGH…SALARY NO RISE…SIGH!

Children’s Day

"Children's Day", as an event, is celebrated on various days in many places around the world, in particular to honor children. Major global variants include an International Children's Day on June 1 as adopted in the former Communist bloc, and a Universal Children's Day on November 20, by United Nations recommendation. Children's Day is often celebrated on other days as well.

The World Conference for the Well-being of Children in Geneva, Switzerland proclaimed June 1 to be International Children's Day in 1925. It is not clear as to why June 1 was chosen as the International Children's Day: one theory has it that the Chinese consul-general in San Francisco (USA) gathered a number of Chinese orphans to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival in 1925, which happened to be on June 1 that year, and also coincided with the conference in Geneva.
The holiday is celebrated on 1 June each year. It is usually marked with speeches on children's rights and wellbeing, children TV programs, parties, various actions involving or dedicated to children, families going out, etc.

In Malaysia, Children's Day is celebrated on the last Saturday of October annually. Primary schoolchildren normally go to school on the Friday before the event to celebrate Children's Day. The schools that are involved would also organise numerous activities for their pupils.
